Realizing Your Potential

So many born again believers do not know that they have been given a special power. What
is this special power? It is the power of the Holy Spirit that is available to every believer.
While it is true that every person who becomes a born again believer has residing in them
the Spirit of God, there is also the gift of God that is available to all who will accept and
receive the in-filling of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2: 1 - 4)
St. John 14: 16 (KJV)
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with
you for ever;
St. John 14: 26 (KJV)
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he
shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have
said unto you.
St. John 15: 26
But when the Helper (Comforter, KJV) comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father,
the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.
St. John 16: 7
Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go
away, the Helper (Comforter, KJV) will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to
you.
From these Scriptures we see that we have the promise of Jesus sending to us the
Comforter, or Helper, which is known as the Holy Spirit. Jesus said that when He would go
away, meaning His death on the cross, that it would be to our advantage, “for if I do not go
away, the Helper (Comforter, KJV) will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to
you.” We are told that the purpose of the Holy Spirit is to “teach you all things, and bring all
things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” We are further told that the
Holy Spirit will “testify of Me” and will “abide with you for ever.” Therefore, upon receiving
the in-filling of the Holy Spirit, we know that we have within us the power of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus also said, “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you,
whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.” (St. John 16: 23) Jesus taught
us that when we pray, that we are to direct our prayers to the Father. He said that the Father
would give you the things that you ask for in the name of Jesus. However, many people,
when they pray, they will ask Jesus to answer their prayers. This practice is not scriptural
and should cease. This is most probably the reason why many people do not receive the
answers to their prayers. I am not saying that we should ignore Jesus. Jesus said that
when we pray, we are to direct out prayers to the Father and He said, “whatever you ask the
Father in My name He will give you.” Therefore, we should direct our prayers to the Father,
in the name of Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
James 4: 3
You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your
pleasures.
The word “amiss,” means “out of the proper course or order; in a faulty manner; wrongly.”
(The American College Dictionary, Copyright 1963, 1964, by Random House, Inc.) When
people pray, many of them ask of God for things that are out of order or in a faulty manner.
They do so for the purpose of satisfying their own pleasures. If you pray in this manner, you
can be assured that you will not receive the things that you ask for.
Therefore, when we pray, directing our prayers to the Father, in the name of Jesus, by the
power of the Holy Spirit, and asking in the proper manner, we are told that God will give us
the things that we ask for. It is imperative that we understand that there is a right way to pray
and there is a wrong way to pray.
It is further imperative that we, as Spirit filled believers, understand that we have the power of
God dwelling within us. We are not a bunch of weaklings! We are told “For when I am weak,
then I am strong.” (2 Cor. 12: 10) In the natural, we face seemingly impossible adversities.
But in the Spirit, nothing is impossible to us. We are told, “I can do all things through Christ
who strengthens me.” (Phil. 4: 16)

Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all
demons, and to cure diseases.
St. Matt. 16: 19
And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will
be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Whether you want to accept it or not, as a Spirit filled believer, we are Jesus’ disciples. As
His disciples, Jesus gave to us “power and authority over all demons, and to cure
diseases.” Many times I have heard people say that no person can cast out demons, cure
diseases or heal the sick. If that is true, then it would seem to me that what Jesus said in
Luke 9: 1 would have been a lie. But since Jesus does not lie, then it seems to me that the
people that make these comments don’t know what they are talking about. They are ignorant
of the Word of God! Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the
works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to
My Father.” (St John 14: 12)
We are told, “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and
be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he
says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” (St. Mark 11: 23) What is the “mountain”
in this verse? It is anything that stands between you and God. It can be a Spiritual mountain.
It can be a physical mountain. It can be a mountain called cancer, diabetes, arthritis, or any
other disease known to man. Jesus said that we can SAY to the mountain “Be removed and
be cast into the sea.” When we speak to the mountain in our lives, in the name of Jesus, it
MUST obey! But for it to obey, you must have faith! You cannot doubt. We are told, “But let
him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and
tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the
Lord.” (James 1: 6, 7) Jesus said that if you do not doubt what you say, “but believes that
those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”
Every Spirit filled believer has the power and authority to operate in Jesus’ name. We are
told, “whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on
earth will be loosed in heaven.” (St. Matt. 16: 19) There are many people who say that mere
man cannot bind anything on earth, thereby binding things in heaven, and no man can loose
anything on earth, thereby causing things to be loosed in heaven. Well, what does this
Scripture say? It says “whatever YOU bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever
YOU loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Emphasis mine) YOU are the one who has
to the binding and losing. Who else is going to do it?
I heard a person preaching one time who said that we can only ask God to do the binding for
us. He said that we have to ask God to loose things on earth so that they would be loosed in
heaven. That is NOT what the Word of God says! Jesus did not say, “ask God to bind things
on earth and they will be bound in heaven, and ask God to loose things on earth and they will
be loosed in heaven.” People who preach that we have to ask God to bind or loose things on
earth are preaching a false doctrine!
Who are we? Are we a bunch of pansies that we have to always ask God to rescue us all the
time? I think not! Jesus gave us the power and authority to bind things on earth! He gave us
the power and authority to loose things on earth! He said, "whatever you bind on earth," and
"whatever you loose on earth," they will be bound in heaven and they will be loosed in
heaven! It is YOU! YOU are the one that binds things on earth! YOU are the one that must
loose things on earth! YOU bind and loose things on earth in the name of Jesus! If you are a
Holy Spirit filled believer, you have the same power residing within you that Jesus had when
He walked among men. Because of this power and authority that is given unto you, you can
SAY (speak) to whatever mountain you may have in your life, and if you do not doubt in your
heart, but BELIEVE that those things that you SAY will be done, they WILL be done for you!
When you SAY, "Mountain of cancer; mountain of diabetes; mountain of sickness; mountain
of financial problems; whatever your mountain may be; I SAY to you, you demon, be gone, in
the name of Jesus!," that mountain has no choice but to OBEY what you SAY and IT HAS TO
DEPART! They key ingredient is that you MUST have FAITH and BELIEVE THAT WHAT YOU
SAY, IN JESUS' NAME, WILL BE DONE! You MUST NOT DOUBT!!
Do you know your potential in Christ today? You have power and authority to overcome every
obstacle that you face. It is time that every born again believer awake to who they are in
Christ! As a child of God, you are not some little weakling that cannot stand on your own.
You have within you the Holy Spirit and you have been given the right to use the name of
Jesus. There is no other name more powerful than the name of Jesus!
The Bible does not say that we have to ask Jesus to do anything. It does not say that we have
to ask God to bind things on earth or to loose things on earth. It does not say that we must
merely say to the mountains in our lives to be cast into the sea and then hope it happens. It
does say, however, that YOU say to the mountain, “Be removed and cast into the sea.” Say
it with power and authority! YOU bind things on earth! YOU loose things on earth! YOU do it
with power and authority! Realize your potential! You can overcome every adversary that you
face, in the name of Jesus!
